Brown Fused Alumina

Brown Fused Alumina (BFA) is a synthetic abrasive and refractory material produced by electric-arc smelting of high-quality bauxite with carbonaceous reducing agents such as anthracite or coke, together with iron scale. The fused block is cooled, crushed and classified into controlled grains and powders.
The material combines high compressive strength, toughness and self-sharpening behavior with low thermal expansion, heat resistance and chemical stability. Its clean, hydrophilic surface supports abrasive bonding and helps limit rust staining during surface treatment.
